Mandarin church translation
Mandarin captions, Simplified or Traditional.
Voclyn translates Mandarin sermons into English, and English sermons into Mandarin, live on every phone. Each reader chooses Simplified characters (普通话) or Traditional (國語) on their own phone.
See it
简体 or 繁體, side by side.
An English pastor, with an elder and a reader who speak Mandarin: the Simplified and Traditional phones each read the service in their own script, and the big screen reads it in English.
Simplified or Traditional, chosen by each reader
Mandarin comes as two choices on the listener page: 普通话(简体), in Simplified characters as on the Mainland, and 國語(繁體), in Traditional characters as in Taiwan. A grandmother from Taipei and a student from Shanghai sit in the same pew and each reads the script they grew up with. The page’s own buttons follow the choice.
When the pastor preaches in Mandarin, Simplified readers read the words as spoken, marked 原声 (Original), and Traditional readers get the same sentence in Traditional characters: the script changes, the words don’t. Cantonese readers have a choice of their own, 廣東話, in Hong Kong characters. Cantonese church translation.
Who it serves
- A Mandarin congregation inside an English-speaking church, following the senior pastor’s sermon in Chinese.
- A Chinese church whose children and youth are more at home in English: the pastor preaches in Mandarin, and they read English.
- A pastor who moves between Mandarin and English, even within a sentence: Voclyn detects each phrase. In our test on 29 October 2026, two sentences that switched language midway, one of them between English and Mandarin, were labelled with the right language in every part.
- Churches with Cantonese and English congregations too: translation for Chinese churches.
神 or 上帝, decided once
Chinese Protestant churches write God two ways, 神 or 上帝, and without a glossary AI translation can use either: in our own test on 29 October 2026, the same service wrote God as 上帝 in one sentence and 神 in the next. A new church starts with 神, or 天主 when its name says it is Catholic; choose once in Settings or the glossary, and every translated caption follows.
| Pack | Words it fills |
|---|---|
| Protestant · 神 | 神 · 聖靈 · 崇拜 · 聖餐 · 講道 · 團契 (圣灵 · 圣餐 · 讲道 · 团契 in Simplified) |
| Protestant · 上帝 | 上帝, with the same church words |
| Catholic · 天主 | 天主 · 聖神 · 彌撒 · 神父, and 思高 names such as 梅瑟 and 保祿 |
Each pack fills Traditional and Simplified renderings, so 團契 and 团契 both read as your church writes them, and the English pack keeps 團契 as “Fellowship”, never “friendship”, for English readers.
和合本 on the verse card
When the pastor names a passage and reads it, Mandarin readers see it from the 和合本: Simplified readers in the publisher’s own Simplified text, not a conversion, and Traditional readers in Traditional characters. Each card is marked 出版译本 · 非 AI 翻译 or 出版譯本 · 非 AI 翻譯 (Published text · not AI); the big screen shows the same verse, and the Mandarin voice reads it.
Your church chooses the edition for each room in Rooms › Languages. The two editions are one text: where the 神 edition prints God as 神, with a blank before it as a mark of honour, the 上帝 edition prints 上帝. Choose the same word in the glossary, and captions and verse cards agree. How Scripture lock works.

What isn't there yet
- Licensed Bibles such as the 新標點和合本 and 和合本修訂版 aren’t shown; verse cards come from the 1919 和合本 text.
- Readings the pastor doesn’t name are translated and labelled AI.
- In a room that also includes Cantonese, speaker labels aren’t available yet.
- The dashboard your team uses is in English; the listener page is in Chinese.

Yes, each on their own phone: 普通话(简体) for Simplified and 國語(繁體) for Traditional. The page's buttons follow the choice.
Yes. Choose 上帝 in Settings or the glossary, and every translated caption uses it. For readings, choose the 和合本's 上帝 edition for the room in Rooms › Languages, and verse cards say 上帝 too.
The 和合本, when the pastor names a passage and reads it: Simplified readers in the publisher's own Simplified text, Traditional readers in Traditional characters, in the 神 or the 上帝 edition your church chooses.
Yes, even within a sentence. Voclyn detects each phrase's language, and each phone shows it in its reader's language.
Cantonese is its own language in Voclyn, with its own speech engine and Hong Kong Traditional characters. A room can include Cantonese, Mandarin and English together.
Right away. The original words appear as the pastor speaks, and each sentence is translated right after it ends.
