ProPresenter live translation

Translated captions in ProPresenter.

Voclyn puts translated captions into ProPresenter as a lower third, through a web object showing your room’s screen link. Each finished sentence appears over your slides in one or two languages, with no plug-in to install.

Why ProPresenter needs a hand

ProPresenter shows what you give it: slides, lyrics and video. We found no live translation or captioning in its own feature list (checked 29 October 2026), so translated captions have to come from somewhere else.

Voclyn hears the service from the sound desk, as it does for the phones in the room, and gives every room a screen link: a web page of finished sentences in the languages you choose, with nothing behind them. ProPresenter shows that page in a web object, over your slides.

What you need

  • A Voclyn plan with the big screen (Chapel, Church or Campus), or the free month. On Free, the link shows a notice instead of captions.
  • Your room’s big screen link. In Voclyn, open Rooms, choose the room and its Big screen tab. It looks like voclyn.com/<your-link>/screen.
  • A version of ProPresenter that can show a web page inside a slide object; recent versions call it a web or website fill. Menus and names vary by version.
  • An internet connection on the ProPresenter computer: the page connects to Voclyn the way a phone does.

Set it up, step by step

  1. Set up the screen. In Rooms, open the room’s Big screen tab, choose “Under your slides” with a transparent background and its languages, and copy the link there. Or add the same settings to the link yourself, such as English with Spanish beneath it: https://voclyn.com/<your-link>/screen?langs=en,es&layout=lower&bg=transparent&lines=2.
  2. Add a web object. In ProPresenter’s editor, add an object to the slide that should carry the captions and set its fill to a web page (called Web or Website, depending on the version). Paste the link as its address. Menus vary by version.
  3. Make it cover the whole slide. Stretch the object to the slide’s full size, such as 1920 × 1080. The page puts the captions in the lower third by itself and sizes the text for the whole picture; squeezed into a thin strip, the text would shrink with it.
  4. Keep it on screen. The captions show only while the object is on the output. If the sermon moves through several slides, the object needs to stay above them, on a layer your version keeps on screen across slides (props, in many versions). Check that your version accepts a web object there.
  5. Rehearse. Go live at the sound desk, speak a few sentences and watch the output, using the checklist below.

Before the service, the same object shows a small plate with your QR code, “Scan for your language” and your link, so it can stay up while people arrive.

Sizing a lower third

The screen page is made for a whole 16:9 picture. It keeps the captions inside the title-safe area, 5% in from each edge, and picks the text size itself: never smaller than 48 px on a 1080p slide for Latin letters, or 44 px for Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

To leave more of the slide clear, use lines=1. For larger text, show one language instead of two. If three languages are needed, give them a screen of their own with the full-screen link, without layout=lower.

Rehearse before Sunday

The screen link is an ordinary web page, and ProPresenter versions differ in how they show web pages, so try it once before the congregation sees it.

  1. Show the slide before anyone goes live: you should see your QR code and “Scan for your language”.
  2. Hold to go live at the sound desk and read a few sentences. Each one should appear once it is finished, in each language of the link.
  3. Read it from the back row. If it is hard to read, try one language instead of two, or the full-screen link on a screen of its own.
  4. Tap Worship at the desk: the captions should give way to a small “Worship” plate with your QR code.
  5. End the service: the lower third should say “Thank you for worshipping with us”.

Not working? Check these

  • “Big screen captions come with the paid plans.” Your church is on Free. Choose a plan in Billing; the free month includes the big screen too.
  • Your QR code shows, but no captions. The room isn’t live: hold to go live at the sound desk. During worship the plate says “Worship”, and during a pause, “Translation paused”.
  • “This church link isn’t active.” The word after voclyn.com/ doesn’t match a room, often because the room’s link was changed. Copy it again from Rooms.
  • A language is missing. Each code in langs must be a language the room offers; check the room’s languages in Rooms. A lower third shows two languages at most.
  • Black covers the slide. Add bg=transparent to the link. If it is there and the background is still black, your version may not show web pages see-through: write to us at hello@voclyn.com with your version number.
  • The text is tiny. The web object is smaller than the slide. Stretch it to the full slide.
  • The captions stop when the slide changes. The object is on one slide only: move it to a layer that stays above your slides (step 4).
  • Nothing changed after you edited the link. Remove the web object and add it again, so ProPresenter opens the new address.

Questions

What churches ask.

Something else on your mind? Write to us at hello@voclyn.com.

We found none: ProPresenter's own feature list, checked on 29 October 2026, lists no live translation or captioning. Voclyn adds it through a web object that shows your room's screen link.

Copy your room's big screen link from Voclyn, add ?layout=lower&bg=transparent, and paste it into a web object that covers the whole slide. Keep that object on screen during the sermon, and rehearse once.

Check four things: the church is on a paid plan or the free month, the room is live at the sound desk, the link includes bg=transparent, and every code in langs is a language the room offers.

One or two. For three, use the full-screen link, without layout=lower, on a screen of its own.

No plug-in. ProPresenter shows the screen link like any web page, on the computer it already runs on, as long as that computer is online.

Captions rest while the church sings (one tap at the sound desk), and the lower third shows a small Worship plate with your QR code. If that would sit on your lyrics, take the captions off screen during songs.

Try it this Sunday.

Set up your church in a minute and hear it live with your own voice. Your QR code keeps working after the free month.

Your first month is on us: the Church plan, normally $99 a month, with unlimited listeners, translation hours and AI voiceover. No card; then choose a plan, or stay on Free.
