The terms, plainly.

These terms are the agreement between Voclyn Atelier Inc. (“Voclyn”, “we”) and the church or organization that opens an account (“your church”). Whoever opens the account confirms they are allowed to do so for their church.

Our data processing addendum is part of these terms: it sets out how we handle the personal information in what your church puts into Voclyn.

People who simply follow a service on their phone don’t need an account and don’t agree to anything beyond using the page respectfully. How we handle their information is in our privacy page.

Voclyn listens to the sound of a service, writes it down, translates it, and shows it on people’s phones and on screens, with an AI voice where a plan includes it. The AI voice can read in a person’s own voice, if your church records one (see cloned voices). Anyone can speak any supported language, even mid-sentence.

It is AI translation, and AI makes mistakes. Names, quiet speech and noisy rooms are the usual causes. Wherever it’s AI, the page says AI. Please don’t rely on it where a mistake could cause harm: legal, medical or safety matters need a qualified human interpreter.

• Keep your sign-in details safe and tell us if you think someone else has used them.
• You decide who joins your team and with which role, and you are responsible for what your team does in your account.
• Give us an email address you read: we use it for things that matter, like your plan or a payment that didn’t go through.

A new church gets everything in the Church plan for 30 days (about 4 Sundays), with no card. When the trial ends, your church chooses a plan or moves to Free. On Free your link and QR code keep working, captions continue in one language plus the room’s main language, within the Free plan’s limits, and saved transcripts are kept as Free allows: the last service’s. Older ones are deleted, so download any you want to keep before the trial ends.

If your church chooses a paid plan during the trial, it pays nothing until the trial ends. The first payment is then taken automatically, from the payment method given when choosing, with nothing more to do, and the plan renews from there. If fewer than 48 hours of the trial are left when your church chooses, the first payment is taken straight away. To stop the first payment, cancel from Billing before the trial ends.

• Plans and prices are on our pricing page. Churches in Canada pay in Canadian dollars, and churches everywhere else in US dollars. Yearly plans cost ten months.
• Paid plans renew automatically each month or year until you cancel. Payments are handled by Stripe.
• Prices are before tax. Where we are registered to collect a sales tax, such as Canada’s GST/HST or British Columbia’s PST, we add it, and your receipt shows it.
• Changing plans: Billing shows what a change costs before you confirm it. A bigger plan starts at once and is prorated: you pay the difference for the rest of the current period. A smaller plan, or a move from yearly to monthly billing, starts when the period you have paid for ends.
• You can cancel at any time from Billing. If you cancel, your plan continues to the end of the period you have paid for, then your church moves to Free. We don’t refund part-periods, except where the law requires it.
• If we ever change a price, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you.
• We never charge for extra usage without your written OK.

Unlimited means a church's normal life: Sunday services, midweek prayer, Bible studies, youth nights, weddings, funerals and the occasional conference.

We never stop a service halfway. If you run over, the service finishes as normal, with the languages and voice it started with. A service left running for 12 hours ends by itself.

It isn't for streams that run round the clock, other organisations' events or reselling. If a room is used that way, we'll write to you before anything changes. We never cut a service short and never bill for extra use.

AI voice is part of the same fair use, with no hours to count, in each of your languages that has a voice. Voice is made only while someone is listening in that language.

Plan limits are checked when a service starts, never in the middle of one. We will never stop a service halfway.

Voclyn is made for church life: services, prayer meetings, Bible studies, youth nights, weddings, funerals, conferences. Please don’t use it:

• for anything unlawful, or to harass, threaten or demean anyone;
• to caption or translate a gathering where people have not been told it is being captioned, if the law where you are requires that;
• to break, overload or get around the limits of the service, or to resell it without our agreement.

If an account is used in these ways we may pause it, and we will tell you why and how to put it right, unless the law or someone’s safety prevents us.

On the plans that include it, your church can record a person’s voice, usually its pastor’s, and the AI voice then reads translations in that voice. A voice belongs to the person whose voice it is, so your church promises us that:

• It has their own consent first. Before recording, the person reads the statement Voclyn shows, in the language they will read aloud, signs it with their name and ticks the box themselves, then says so at the start of the recording. Nobody else may sign or tick it for them.
• It never clones a minor, or anyone who hasn’t agreed for themselves. Only the person whose voice it is can agree, and only if they are 18 or older (or the age of majority where they live, if that is higher). Never make a voice from a recording made for something else, such as a sermon, a video or a call.
• It uses the voice only for what the person agreed to: reading your church’s live translations during its services. Never to deceive anyone, or to stand in for the person anywhere else.
• The voice stays theirs. Your church gets no rights in it beyond that use. The person can withdraw their consent at any time, by asking your church or us, and the voice is then deleted.

A room’s voice reads whoever is speaking. The voice is chosen for each room and language, not for each speaker: in a room whose Spanish is read in the pastor’s voice, a guest preacher’s or a reader’s words also come out in Spanish in the pastor’s voice. The statement tells the person this before they agree. Rooms › Languages can keep the stock AI voice for any language, and listeners always see the voice labelled as an AI voice made from that person’s voice.

How long a voice is kept. Our voice provider, Alibaba Cloud, reviews each new voice before it can be used, and may refuse one. It keeps a voice until your church deletes it in Settings › Voices, or closes its account; we don’t keep the recording. If your church moves to a plan with fewer voices, or none, the voices beyond it are kept, unused, for 90 days: a plan that includes them again brings them back, and after that we delete them. Settings › Voices shows the date. We keep the record of each person’s consent while your account is open, even after their voice is deleted.

On paid plans and during the trial, your church can connect Voclyn to its own tools with our API, booth buttons and webhooks (Dashboard › Integrations; see the API and webhooks pages).

• Your keys are your responsibility. A key is shown once, and we keep only a scrambled form of it. Keep keys secret, use a booth key where the service buttons are enough, and revoke any key that may have leaked. What is done with your church’s keys counts as done by your church.
• Use them for your own church, not to reach anyone else’s information, to get around your plan’s limits, or to resell the service. Each key may make 120 requests a minute; past that, the API asks you to wait.
• Webhooks go where you send them. Add only addresses you control. Each delivery says what happened to a service (with your church’s and the room’s names, its times, listener count and languages) and is signed with your endpoint’s secret, which you keep as safe as a key.
• No promise that they never fail. We work to keep the API and webhooks running, but they are provided as they are, without a warranty that they will always be available, on time or free of errors. A delivery is tried up to 7 times over about a day and then dropped, and the same event can arrive twice: build your side so a missed or repeated event does no harm.
• On Free, keys stop working and webhooks stop being sent. The keys are kept, and work again on a paid plan.

Sermons, readings, transcripts, glossaries and everything else your church puts into Voclyn belong to your church. You give us permission to process them only to provide the service to you. We don’t use them to train AI models, and we don’t publish them.

You are responsible for having the right to use what is spoken and shown, as you already are for your projector and livestream. We don’t translate song lyrics. Bible text shown as published text comes only from public-domain versions, or from versions we are licensed to show.

We work hard for Sunday mornings to go smoothly, and we tell you plainly when something is wrong. But the internet, church Wi-Fi and the providers we rely on can fail, so we can’t promise the service will never be interrupted.

The service is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, and our total liability to your church is limited to what your church paid us in the 12 months before the problem. Nothing in these terms removes rights that the law says cannot be removed.

You can close your church’s account at any time by writing to us. We may end the agreement if an account seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, after telling you and giving you a fair chance to put it right where we can. After an account is closed, we delete its information as our privacy page describes, and its cloned voices at our voice provider.

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. We would always rather talk first: most problems are solved with an email.
