Voco alternative

Voco and Voclyn, side by side.

Looking for a Voco alternative for your church? Voclyn’s paid plans add an AI voice to the captions, and a free plan follows the trial.

How the prices work

Voco prices by the week, in pounds: Starter £6, Church £12 and Pro £22 a week, or £24, £48 and £88 a month, or £228, £456 and £840 a year. Its plans describe a church’s normal rhythm rather than a hard wall: Starter is for one main service a week with one or two language groups, Church for several Sunday services and the odd midweek (around 5 live hours a week), and Pro for unlimited live hours. Every plan has unlimited attendees.

Voclyn charges in US or Canadian dollars: Free, then $69, $99 or $249 a month (C$99, C$139, C$349). Paid plans have unlimited translation hours under fair use, with captions in every language your people choose, and include the AI voice in each of your languages it speaks, with no hours to count. Because Voco’s prices are in pounds, the difference moves with the exchange rate. See the plans.

What Voclyn does differently

  • A voice made for listening. On paid plans an AI voice (TTS) reads the translation aloud, keeps playing with the phone locked and is labelled AI. Voco sends text, which a phone can read aloud with its own text-to-speech. About the AI voice.
  • Switch languages mid-sentence. Voclyn detects the language being spoken by itself, so a pastor can tell a story in Korean and make the point in English without anyone touching a setting. How switching works.
  • Bible readings from the Bible. When the pastor names a passage and reads it, English, Spanish, Korean, Cantonese and Mandarin readers see it from the published Bible their church chose (the BSB or KJV, the Reina-Valera 1909, 개역한글, and 和合本 in its 神 or 上帝 edition), marked “Published text · not AI”, on phones and the big screen, and the voice reads the verse. Other languages get the reading translated and labelled AI. About Scripture lock.
  • Your church’s words. Voco has a glossary and word boost too. Voclyn’s glossary teaches both the speech engine and the translator your pastors’ names and your church’s words. Your church chooses 神 or 上帝, 하나님 or 하느님, culto or Misa, starting from a pack for its tradition, and a fix in Monday’s transcript is used from the next service. About the glossary.
  • A free plan after the trial. Every church starts with 30 days of the Church plan free, no card. After that, Free keeps translating 6 hours a month into one language plus your main language, with no time limit, and the QR code keeps working. Voco’s trial is 7 days.
  • Made for a service. The desk goes live with a hold and rests with one tap while the church sings (lyrics aren’t translated), and a private moment hides captions on every phone, with nothing saved.

Where Voco does better

  • A tour before you sign up. Voco’s demo walks through five views, from the reader’s language picker to the admin dashboard and the screen overlay, and says plainly that its transcript is simulated. Voclyn’s demo is live instead: you speak and watch it translate, with nothing recorded.
  • Plans by rhythm. Voco describes each plan by a church’s normal week rather than as a hard limit, and says occasional visitors, longer services and one-off church events are fine, with no mid-service cut-offs. Voclyn never stops a service halfway either; its Free plan counts services.
  • More languages to read. 200+ by its count; Voclyn’s listeners choose from 100+.
  • Prices in pounds, by the week. Simple for churches in the UK; Voclyn charges in US or Canadian dollars.
  • Stream Deck. Pro’s Signal API works with a Stream Deck and AV remotes. Voclyn’s service buttons work from a Stream Deck too, through Companion or the Web Requests plug-in.
  • Pages in six languages. Its comparisons and language guides are published in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German and Dutch.

Who should choose which

Choose Voco if your congregation mostly reads along, you want to pay in pounds by the week, or your people read a language beyond Voclyn’s 100+.

Choose Voclyn if people want to listen in earbuds as well as read, your pastor switches languages, you want Bible readings from a published Bible in Spanish, Korean or Chinese, or you want a free plan after the trial. Try it with your voice.
