AI voice
When the AI voice is silent.
Phones only make sound after a tap, so Voclyn’s AI voice begins when someone taps Listen, and again after the page reloads. If Listen is on and nothing plays, check the phone’s volume, the earbuds, and whether the page opened inside a messaging app.
Listening
What the phone says about the voice.
The listener page's own notes about the AI voice, each where it appears.
Before the serviceListen tapped early: the voice starts with the service. PlayingThe first time it speaks, the page asks for earphones. The listener's own languageThe speaker switched to it, so the voice goes quiet. Inside a messaging appIts browser can't play the voice: open the page in Safari or Chrome. It couldn't startTap Listen again. The captions carry on meanwhile.

There's no Listen button
Listen shows only in languages with an AI voice. On the paid plans and in the free month, each of your languages that has one gets it, with nothing to switch on; Rooms & QR › your room › Languages marks the ones that are captions only. Free has captions only. A language a visitor picks outside your list has the AI voice too, where it has one; in a language without one, Listen is quieter and says so. A running service keeps the voices it started with, so a change shows from the next service. At the desk, the console’s On phones card shows Listen for voiced languages and “Captions only” for the rest.
Tap Listen, every time
Browsers only let a page make sound after a tap, so the voice never starts by itself. Tap Listen once the page is open, and again after a reload, or after reopening the page from the Home Screen.
Tapped before the service, Listen says “AI voice · starts with the service” and begins when the service does. While the voice plays, the top of the page says “AI translation · AI voice”.
The silent switch and the volume
The voice plays as media, like a video, so an iPhone’s Ring/Silent switch doesn’t mute it; the waiting page’s “silence your phone” is about calls. If it’s too quiet, turn the volume up with the side buttons while the voice is playing: phones keep a separate volume for media.
Earbuds and Bluetooth
- The page asks people to use earphones, so the people beside them hear the service and not the phone. Any wired or Bluetooth earbuds work.
- Connect Bluetooth earbuds before tapping Listen.
- If earbuds disconnect (back in their case, out of battery), the phone pauses the sound, as it does for music, and Listen turns off. Tap it again.
- Bluetooth earbuds add a little delay of their own; wired ones don’t.
Opened inside a messaging app
Links opened from KakaoTalk, NAVER, LINE, WeChat, Weibo, Instagram or Facebook open in the app’s own browser, which can’t keep the voice playing, so the page says “For sound, open this page in Safari or Chrome” instead of failing quietly. Use the app’s menu (often ⋯) to open the page in the phone’s browser, or scan the QR code with the camera, which opens the browser itself. Captions work either way.
It played, then stopped
- The phone locked: the voice keeps playing with the screen off. If someone paused it from the lock screen, Listen turns off; tap it again.
- “Voice unavailable right now. Tap to try again.” Tap Listen. The captions carry on meanwhile.
- “Original · you're hearing the speaker”: the speaker switched to the listener’s own language, so the voice waits until they switch back.
- Worship and breaks: while nothing is translated, there is nothing to read aloud.
- Falling behind: the voice keeps close to the speaker, skipping ahead rather than trailing behind.
- The end: the voice fades out as the service ends.
Check it from the desk
In the console’s On phones card, Listen (or the M key) plays a language’s AI voice on the laptop at the desk, so you can check the voice without a phone. If it plays there and a phone doesn’t, the trouble is on that phone. About the AI voice.

No. The voice plays as media, like a video. If it's quiet, turn the volume up with the side buttons while it plays.
That language has no AI voice in this room. A church turns the voice on per language in Rooms › Languages, on the paid plans and in the free month.
