Languages
Languages, mid-service.
Speakers can change language at any time, and so can every phone. Voclyn keeps a room’s own languages, voices and plan as they were when the service started, so changes in Rooms apply from the next service.

Change a phone’s language.
Press play, then pick another language on a phone: it carries on in that one.
At the front
Voclyn detects the language as it’s spoken, even mid-sentence, so a guest preacher, a reader or a prayer in another language needs nothing from the desk. Phones in the language being spoken read it as spoken, marked Original; every other phone reads it translated. With the AI voice on, the voice goes quiet while the speaker uses the listener’s own language.
The room’s list of languages spoken at the front helps it listen, and one choice is made as the service starts: Cantonese has its own speech engine. If anyone will speak 廣東話, list it in Rooms › Languages before you go live. About language switching.
On a phone
- Tap the language at the bottom of the page and choose another. The phone switches at once and fills in the last few sentences in its new language.
- With Listen on, the voice follows if the new language has one, and stops if it doesn’t.
- Your languages come first. Under them, More languages lists every other one; in a room that shows only yours, it says “Don't see your language? Ask for it”.
- Now and then a busy room says “Many languages are being followed here right now. Please choose one of these for now.” Then choose one of your church’s languages.
A visitor's language
On Church and Campus and in the free month, a room set to Every language lets a visitor choose any of 100+ languages, even mid-service. Chapel offers your main language and two more. They get captions and, where it speaks them, the AI voice; Bible readings, the pew card and the big screen stay on your own languages. The console lists them under “Chosen on visitors’ phones”.
A room set to Only your languages lets a visitor ask for theirs instead, and Rooms › Languages shows which language was asked for, never who asked. On Free, phones choose between your main language and one other.
Your room's own languages
Changes in Rooms › Languages (a new language, a voice turned on, the main language, a Bible) are used from the next service. A running service keeps the languages and voices it started with, to the end: we never stop a service halfway.
If a change can’t wait, end the service and go live again. Phones on the page follow the new service by themselves, starting a fresh page of captions, and Sessions lists it as a new service.
The big screen’s languages are in the room’s Big screen tab, or in a link of its own with langs=: reload the screen to see a change, any time. The big screen.
At the desk
The console’s On phones card lists your languages with the phones following each, and Listen for those with an AI voice; visitors’ languages appear under them as they arrive. Above it, On the big screen shows what the projector shows: the first three of your languages, sentence by sentence.
Talk to us
A person answers hello@voclyn.com Sundays 7:00–13:00 Vancouver time. Say which church and room it is (the link people scan), what the console and the phones show, and add a screenshot if you can.
Outside those hours, write anyway: we answer as soon as we can.

Yes. Voclyn detects the language as it is spoken, even mid-sentence, and every phone follows.
A visitor's phone can choose any language on Church and Campus when the room offers every language. A language you add in Rooms › Languages is used from the next service.
They stay on the page and follow the new service when it starts, with a fresh page of captions.
