Glossary

When a name comes out wrong.

Voclyn’s glossary holds the names and words your church says its own way, in each of your languages. Add a term once and, from the next service you start, the speech engine listens for it and the translation uses your wording.

See it

Your words, every Sunday.

The terms a church sets once, and three sentences as phones show them without a glossary and with it.

Your glossary

  • 黃牧師NameEnglish Pastor Wong
  • GodChurch word中文 神Español Dios
  • ServiceChurch word中文 崇拜Español culto
  • Said “今日由黃牧師講道。”

English phone Today Pastor Wong is preaching.

  • Said “God loves every one of us.”

    中文 phone 神爱我们每一个人。

  • Said “Welcome to the service.”

    Español phone Bienvenidos al culto.

Illustration. Without a glossary, our own test of 29 October 2026 wrote God as 上帝 in one sentence and 神 in the next.

What to add first

  • Your pastors’ and elders’ names, as they’re said and as they’re written.
  • Ministries, rooms and your church’s own name.
  • Your words for God and for the service, which traditions translate differently.
  • Set phrases: Amen, Hallelujah, your greetings.

Tradition words fill a tradition’s terms for you, in Chinese (神, 上帝 or 天主), Korean (하나님 or 하느님), Spanish (culto or Misa) and English: the button is at the top of Glossary.

The four kinds

NamePeople, ministries, places, Bible names.
Church wordGod, Holy Spirit, Communion, fellowship.
PhraseAmen, Hallelujah, set greetings.
Keep as isSaid the same in every language: the church's name, a song title.

Add a term

  1. In Glossary, choose Add term and write the word as it’s said, in the language it’s spoken.
  2. Choose its kind.
  3. Write how it should read in each of your languages; leave one empty to let it be translated normally. Suggestions from the tradition words are marked “Suggested · check it”.
  4. Add a note for the translator if it helps: who someone is, or how to say it.

A spreadsheet works too: download the CSV template, fill it in, and import it.

Fix it from last Sunday

If the room saves transcripts, open the service in Sessions and read it. Correct a line (E), then choose Save to glossary to use the correction from the next service, or Fix this line to change only this transcript. J and K move between lines.

When it applies

From the next service you start. A service that’s running keeps the glossary it started with. If a name keeps coming out wrong and it can’t wait, end the service and go live again: the new one uses the glossary as it is now.

Still wrong?

  • Write the term as people say it: it’s what the speech engine listens for.
  • Add a note: “a man’s name”, “the youth ministry”, “one word”.
  • A passage the preacher names and reads is shown from the Bible your church chose for each language in Rooms › Languages (English, Spanish, Korean and Chinese), not from the glossary: Scripture lock.
  • Each plan holds a number of terms: 25 on Free, 300 on Chapel and as many as you need on Church and Campus.

Talk to us

A person answers hello@voclyn.com Sundays 7:00–13:00 Vancouver time. Say which church and room it is (the link people scan), what the console and the phones show, and add a screenshot if you can.

Outside those hours, write anyway: we answer as soon as we can.
