Sound
Good sound from the desk.
Voclyn translates what its console hears, so everything starts at the sound desk: a clean feed from the mixer, the right input, and a level the console calls “Good level”. This page covers each, and what the console says when it hears nothing.
At the desk
The level, in words.
The console's own Sound card, fed a sample voice: pick a level and see what the desk sees, for a feed from the mixer or a room microphone.

Three ways in
| Set-up | How | When |
|---|---|---|
| Mixer aux or USB out (best) | A spare aux send or the desk’s USB output into a laptop, chosen as the input in the console. | You have a mixer with a spare output |
| An old phone at the desk | A phone with a headphone-jack adapter does the same job from the mixer. Keep it on its charger. | No laptop |
| Room microphone | A phone or laptop near a loudspeaker, set to Room microphone, so echo and noise filters come on. | No mixer: a hall, a home, a retreat |
What to send
Send every microphone that speaks: the pulpit, the readers, prayers, announcements, and an interpreter if you have one. Music can stay out: songs aren’t translated, and the desk taps Worship while they play.
Choose the input
- In Go live, press Check the sound. The browser asks to use the microphone: that is how browsers name any sound input, the mixer’s included. Allow it.
- Under Source, choose Sound desk feed for a cable from the mixer (the browser’s echo and noise filters off), or Room microphone for a microphone in the room (filters on).
- Under Input, choose the mixer’s USB or your audio interface. The console remembers it in this browser; if that input is unplugged, it falls back to the default input.
If the browser blocked the microphone, allow it from the address bar and try again. “No audio input found” means the computer doesn’t see the cable or interface: plug it in again, then try again.
Set the level
| The console says | Do this |
|---|---|
| “Good level” | Nothing: you’re ready. |
| “Too quiet. Turn up the aux send.” | Raise the send (or bring a room microphone closer). |
| “Too loud. Turn down the aux send.” | Lower the send: the sound is clipping (or move a room microphone back a little). |
| “No sound. Is the aux send muted?” | Unmute the send, then check the cable and the input. |
Set it while someone speaks at their normal Sunday volume, not while the band plays.
During the service
- “Hearing”, beside Sound, shows the language the console hears, as it changes.
- After 10 seconds without sound while live, the console says “No sound from the mixer for 10 seconds. Is the aux send muted?” along the bottom.
- While Worship or Break is on, nothing is translated.
- Keep the console in front, the computer on its charger and the cable in. Choosing another input mid-service keeps the service running.
Several speakers, several languages
List every language spoken at the front in Rooms › Languages: the console detects which one is being spoken, even mid-sentence. Cantonese has its own speech engine, chosen as the service starts, so list 廣東話 before you go live. Languages, mid-service.
Talk to us
A person answers hello@voclyn.com Sundays 7:00–13:00 Vancouver time. Say which church and room it is (the link people scan), what the console and the phones show, and add a screenshot if you can.
Outside those hours, write anyway: we answer as soon as we can.

Yes. Put a phone or laptop near a loudspeaker and choose Room microphone, which turns on echo and noise filters. A feed from the mixer sounds cleaner.
“Good level” while someone speaks at their normal volume. “Too quiet” and “Too loud” say which way to turn the aux send.
No. The sound is transcribed and translated as it arrives, and service audio is never stored. A room can save the text transcript.
